National Insulation Training Program
Scope of Program
Taught by a team of professional instructors, the 2-day National Insulation Training Program covers all aspects of commercial and industrial insulation as a powerful technology for enhancing energy and cost efficiency and process performance. The program consists of six modules or sessions.
Basic Insulation Science
Basic insulation science provides an overview of the benefits of insulating
mechanical and process systems and equipment, as well as the fundamental
characteristics of heat flow, heat transfer and heat measurement.
Systems Design and Materials
Systems design and materials familiarizes attendees with system design
conditions and helps them get a better understanding of the available types
of insulation materials. Understanding insulation temperature ranges and
properties assists in the selection of appropriate insulation materials.
Insulation Thickness Determination
Insulation thickness determination demonstrates, via sophisticated computer
software (3E Plus®), how to determine the appropriate insulation thickness
to accomplish critical performance criteria.
General Insulation System Installation Consideration
General insulation system installation consideration helps attendees
understand the installation requirements for insulation on mechanical
systems and equipment and familiarizes them with application details in the
Midwest Insulation Contractors Association (MICA) Manual/CD-ROM tool and the
Process Industry Practices (PIP) Best Practices guidelines.
The Specification Process
The specification process reviews resources available for writing
specifications, including industry standards, manufacturer's data, master
and guide specifications and specification development software programs.
Insulation System Maintenance
Insulation system maintenance helps attendees understand how to extend the
life of installed insulation through proper maintenance procedures. Covers
maintenance indicators and appropriate maintenance actions for insulation
system materials.
