Convention 2006 Desktop Wallpaper
Download this photo to use as a background image ("wallpaper") on the desktop of your own computer. Instructions for downloading and installing are given below.
Which size desktop image do I need?
Before downloading any of the images, find out the resolution/screen size of your monitor. You will use this information to select the image which will look the best on your screen. To find out your screen size, right click on your desktop. On the pop up menu that appears choose Properties. Once the display properties window appears, click on the Settings tab. On the lower right side the window will display your screen area in pixels. This will generally be 800x600, or 1024x768. Leave the display properties window open because you will need it again later. After determining your screen size you are ready to download your desktop picture.
How do I save the image?
Choose the image size that corresponds with your screen size and click on the link. One of two things will then happen, depending on which browser you use and how it is configured: either a dialog box will open, or the image will be displayed on your screen. If a dialog box opens, asking whether you want to open or save the file, select the save option. Remember the name of the directory and where it is located, so you can find the file again later. The second possibility is that the desktop image will open in your browser window. In that case, just right click on the image and then choose "Save Image/Picture As." Again make note of the directory where you are saving the image.
How do I install my new desktop image?
After saving the image, go back to the display properties window. (If you accidentally closed the window just repeat the steps given in the first paragraph above.) In the display properties window choose the Background tab and click on Browse located on the right side of that window. Now look for the desktop image file saved in the previous steps: browse to the directory where the image is saved and click Open. The image will appear on the preview screen and also on the list of wallpapers. Just click Okay or Apply and you are all done. Internet Explorer also has the option to Set Image As Wallpaper directly from the web. Note, however, that selecting this option seems to slow down the system. The Set Image As Wallpaper option is located on the menu that appears when you right clicked on an image.
