The Power of Polish
A Special Spouse Program Presentation
Thursday, March 23
Have you ever had an awkward moment, whether in a social or business situation? What sets you apart from your competition? What does your body language reveal about you? Are you a dining diplomat or a dining disaster?
It's time to catch up with old friends and make new ones while our powerful speaker, Diane Gottsman, reveals the secrets of social behavior. Diane's discussion "The Power of Polish" will present numerous skills to help you lighten awkward moments and introduce yourself to your company as a confident, positive and sophisticated individual and entertainer. The topics covered will include: How to Make an Entrance; Tips for Remembering Names; How to Make Small Talk; Body Language; and Business Card Protocol; not to mention the all-time-favorite chat on Dining Skills. In this section Diane will help you gain confidence in dining situations; you will learn about host and guest duties, American vs. Continental styles of dining, napkin etiquette, table conversation, seating, and how to eat difficult foods.
Let's learn to stop worrying about which fork to use, and give 100 percent of our attention to enjoying our time with company!
* Pre-registration is required for this event. Please be sure to
indicate if you or your spouse/guest is planning on attending when you

¡Buenos Dias, San Antonio!
A Special Spouse Entertainment Program*
Friday, March 24
Join other NIA spouses for an unforgettable morning tour of the San Antonio Riverwalk. Who can think of a better way to get to know the region than by cruising this river lined with green subtropical foliage and winding through its grand city?
Upon arrival, guests will enjoy a short mixer at a local Mexican restaurant along the banks of the river, followed by boarding of the river cruisers. The traditional pan dulce and agua fresca will boost this mid-morning event with delicious flavors. Pan dulce are dome-shaped sweet rolls enriched with a sugar topping of vanilla, chocolate or lemon etched into a shell design on top. This sweet bread is not only irresistible, but is also exquisitely complemented by agua fresca, a drink made with any type of fresh fruit. The mild, yet distinct fruitiness of this beverage is an excellent counterbalance to the strong flavors of Mexican cuisine.
Bus transportation will be provided for pick up in front of the hotel. Periodic returns will be offered for the convenience of our spouses at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., allowing for additional time on the Riverwalk.
*This spouse program can only accommodate 70 participants.
Pre-registration is required for this event. Please be sure to indicate
if you or your spouse/guest is planning on attending when you register
for the convention. Participation will be accepted on a first-come,
first-served basis.
