San Antonio
Home to The Alamo, the Riverwalk and the world champion Spurs, San Antonio has emerged as one of the country's premier destination and travel cities. As the eighth largest city in the United States, San Antonio has continued to grow and evolve while retaining its sense of history and tradition. Nearly 20 million people visit this southern Texas town each year. Visitors will marvel at the many different cultural influences such as: Native American, Old Mexico, German, the Wild West, African-American and the Deep South.
San Antonio boasts a rich history with many attractions that will enthrall tourists. Chief among the historical attractions is "The Alamo" where 189 defenders held the fort against 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days. Tourists have stood in awe at the shrine and museum and relished the opportunity to "Remember the Alamo."
The world famous River Walk offers visitors a chance to travel by boat through downtown San Antonio and sight see, as well as be transported to the Rivercenter Mall. Other shopping attractions include the Alamo Quarry Market, Crossroads of San Antonio, Fiesta Trails Shopping Center and the Forum.
Visitors will learn more about San Antonio's heritage when they visit the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The park offers guests a chance to view the 18th Century Spanish settlements along the San Antonio River. The missions include Missions Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan and Espada.
Other unique attractions include the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum where visitors can gain a unique perspective on the history of Texas from bizarre and exotic exhibits that showcase cowboy memorabilia, animals, horns and more. Young and old will enjoy premier attractions such as the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium, as well as Sea World and Six Flags.
Visitors can choose between a wide range of food choices: Chinese, French cuisine, German, Indian, soul food and Cajun dishes are served regularly. However, you can't leave San Antonio without sampling its Tex-Mex cuisine and barbecue!
With its culturally diverse attractions and ever-growing landscape, San Antonio has something for everyone.
