Convention 2005
Viva Las Vegas
Henderson, Nevada, home to the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas, is the second largest city in the state and the fastest growing city in the U.S. Like NIA, Henderson is celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is nationally known for its premier parks, master planned residential communities and quality of life. Henderson banks on the Colorado River near Lake Mead and offers a variety of entertainment and activities, including casinos, golfing and wineries and is surrounded by natural wonders such as Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam. With time to travel, one could even make the 260-mile trip to view the Grand Canyon.
If you prefer, getting away to the City of Lights is a convenient, short drive. But if you haven't visited the famous Las Vegas Strip before, nothing can quite prepare you. Known for being the most exciting and entertaining city in the world, Las Vegas has something for everyone.
In other cities, hotels are built near the major attractions. Here, the hotels are the major attractions. Just along the famous strip full of lights and signs and casino-hotels, visitors can visit recreations of erupting volcanoes, the Eiffel tower and the Sphinx of Egypt. Or enjoy a beautiful conservatory and botanical gardens, interactive wax museum, a flamingo wildlife habitat, gondola rides, art museum, roller coasters, IMAX theater and numerous other shows, museums and attractions.
If you prefer not to be amidst the main hustle and bustle, there is still plenty to do. Visit the Primm Wild-West themed amusement park, or Neonopolis with restaurants and a top of the line 14-screen multiplex theater, or the Elvis-A-Rama museum. There is scuba diving, golf, helicopter rides, train rides, indoor skydiving, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and four-wheeling, too. And there is always great shopping, with many malls and centers to choose from.
Las Vegas continuously reinvents itself, so even if you have visited the great city before you will never run out of fun things to do. A couple of good websites to visit for additional information on all activities and show times are www.LasVegas.com or www.ReviewJournal.com.
