Keynote Speakers

Mike McKinley –
"Together, We're Even Better"
Thursday, March 25 8:30 - 9:30 am

Mount McKinley may be the highest mountain peak in North America, but Mike McKinley knows the secret of overcoming challenges. At age 35, he was diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live. But through the process of becoming a survivor, he developed a perspective that captures personal motivation and the desire for making each moment count. In his more than 40 years of business experiences, which ranged from a 25-dollar-a-week garbage-hauling business to president of the Happy Sleeper Mattress Company, and now as president of Thinking Publications, his multimillion-dollar educational publishing house, he has become a consultant to change, as well as safety.

Change is required to stay competitive, but change doesn't have to be scary. Mike McKinley will help you recognize your obstacles to success, and will open your mind to new ideas and approaches in order to maximize your performance and give you a competitive edge.

Part of change is taking risks, but that doesn't mean safety is not a concern. In his years of business experience, Mike knows that if an organization's leaders are not totally committed to safety, no one else will be. Learn how to make safety an everyday practice. Remember, if someone thinks something is unsafe, it is.

Mike McKinley has been speaking to audiences for 20 years, with companies such as American Red Cross, Coldwell Banker, IBM, Panasonic, and Sears. He has earned the designation of Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) from the National Speakers Association and has served as president of the association. In Tucson, Mike will be sharing his message of maximizing performance by balancing change and safety - while having fun in the process.

Vaughan Privett –
“ Success by Association”
Saturday, March 27 9:45 - 10:45 am

What trait did Thomas Edison, Woodrow Wilson, Henry Ford, Charles Schwab, F.W. Woolworth, and William Wrigley Jr. all possess that shaped each as a leader of his time? This special presentation will focus on just that-the key to success. Success is measured in many ways, small and large, and occurs when preparation meets opportunity. One opportunity is being a part of an association or group, whether it's NIA, Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, a church or any other organization. Involvement is vital to success because the more people you know, the more knowledge you'll gain from their acquaintance. Vaughan's personal experience with professional training gurus such as Ed Forman, Zig Zigler, Stephen Covey, and Napoleon Hill has translated his experience into successful growth.

This motivational discussion will be broadly based on principle philosophies from the books Built to Last, Good to Great, See You at the Top, and Think and Grow Rich. They will provide insight into how to apply these tools of success to your association, your business, and your life.
