Convention 2004

Evening Events

First Timer and VIP Reception
Wednesday, March 24, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

NIA would like to welcome all first time attendees to the 2004 Convention. This invitation-only event provides an opportunity to introduce first time attendees to the leadership of NIA, along with providing information about the week's convention program. The NIA Board of Directors, Executive Committee, past presidents, committee chairmen, and the NIA staff will be on hand to greet all first timers. This hosted cocktail reception is casual and immediately precedes the First Night Welcome Reception.

First Night Welcome Reception
Mexican Fiesta
Wednesday, March 24, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

¡Fiesta! Be welcomed in fiery southwest style amid the serapes at the First Night Welcome Reception. Relax and unwind after your journey, and reunite with friends new and old. Spend the evening sampling some of the culinary specialties of the southwest from one of the dinner stations, including such fare as Topoppo Salad, slow roasted Baron of Beef with green chile whipped potatoes, Shrimp Fajitas on warm flour tortillas with all of the toppings, and an extensive taco bar. To compliment dinner, enjoy a refreshing margarita or your beverage of choice from our selection of drinks at the hosted bar. Casual dress is encouraged for this evening event.

Dessert Hospitality Suites
Wednesday, March 24, 8:00 p.m.

After the First Night Welcome Reception, we invite you to join the manufacturers for a sweet sensation. Several manufactures will host dessert hospitality suites, featuring tantalizingly out-of-this-world dessert stations guaranteed to please any dessert lover's desire. We encourage you take time to visit each suite and mingle with colleagues and friends while enjoying these heavenly treats.

Associates’ Night — Wild Wild West
Young Country Thursday, March 25, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Come dressed in your western wear to participate in an outdoors evening filled with fun, food and excitement nestled in the hills of Tucson. This event is located in the Catalina Basin, east of the property, which is an approximate five-minute walk down a small hilly well-lighted path. Shuttle service will be available for those who prefer to ride. Moreover, as you work up an appetite, we have some vittles you can enjoy. So prepare yourself to chow down on Cajun-grilled chicken breasts, slow roasted Kansas City pork barbeque sandwiches, char-broiled beef burgers, campsite baked beans with bourbon and brown sugar, chile-spiced onion rings, cool and minty cucumber salad, yukon gold potatoes salad, apple pineapple coleslaw, and fruit salad. To top the evening off, dessert will feature strawberry short stacks, fresh cream chantilly, home style apple pie, and chocolate fudge cake.

To compliment that hearty western meal, NIA has planned a night of enjoyable entertainment you won't want to miss. While relaxing and taking in the beauty of Mother Nature, you can view the galaxy through high-powered telescopes and take in the sounds of the Young Country Variety Band.

President's Gala
Saturday, March 27
Cocktail Reception 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Dinner & Dance 7:00 p.m.
It's time to celebrate the last night of our convention at the President's Gala. This event is an optional black-tie affair concluding a week of educational sessions, networking and activities. The evening begins with a hosted cocktail reception, during which time you may wish to toast to a great convention with friends new and old. For a limited time during the reception, a photographer will be on-hand to capture this memorable occasion. These photos will be available for purchase.

The cocktail reception will be followed by an exquisite dinner. During the course of this evening there will be a special presentation honoring outgoing president Vaughan Privett.

After dinner don your dancing shoes, because we plan to dance the night away to the tunes of Affinity, a local band with an extensive repertoire of music selections. They've performed for NIA twice as well as for Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States. This 11-piece band with an irresistible horn section is guaranteed to keep you entertained and dancing all night long. Seats can and should be reserved online in advance at http://www.insulation.org/convention/04/gala.cfm.
