Expanding End Users’ Outlook on Insulation

Chances are you are already familiar with Insulation Outlook, NIA’s flagship publication. What you might not know is, the audience of Outlook recently has expanded to include the end users of insulation, and by contributing a technical article or case study, you can help us promote the benefits of insulation to this important group.

Increasingly, Outlook has become an educational tool for NIA to reach out to specifiers, engineers, and other end users of insulation, and the magazine’s content reflects this shift. It is our goal to promote the entire mechanical and industrial insulation industry.

However, we cannot continue to provide high-quality content without your technical expertise. Although some articles come from outside consultants and freelancers, the rest are written by technical experts within the NIA membership—and they are short in supply. Therefore, we strongly encourage NIA members to submit articles.

Outlook covers a variety of insulation applications—from mold to firestopping—as well as issues like natural gas prices and energy assessments. Submitted articles should offer a unique angle on the given issue. To see what topics would be appropriate, check out the articles database and the current editorial calendar at www.insulationoutlook.com. Articles should be substantive, and void of sales copy and superlatives. Pertinent product information should be generic and not central to the theme of the article. In order to ensure the editorial integrity of Outlook, members of NIA’s Technical Information Committee review all technical articles prior to publication. They check for technical accuracy and make sure that articles do not contain promotional content.

Member-written articles go a long way in helping NIA expand the “outlook” of end users and opening their eyes to all insulation has to offer. If you are interested in providing a technical article, please contact publications@insulation.org.
