Foundation for Education, Training, and Industry Advancement

The Road to Success: Our Mileage Stats

When the NIA Foundation was started, our goal was to reach insulation purchasing decision makers and educate them on the value of insulation. Therefore, we set out to build a strong foundation of industry outreach, technical and communications support, accredited training programs, participation in key government agency programs, as well as enhanced publicity via Insulation Outlook and our website. Here’s a look at the array of training programs created by the Foundation.

Insulation: The Forgotten or Lost Technology

This 30- to 45-minute presentation, which looks at insulation as a complete system process, is a perfect fit for outside audiences such as American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) chapters. The presentation covers such topics as why to insulate and the importance of component selection in engineered insulation systems.

Putting the Power of Insulation To Work: Insulation Awareness Presentation Package

This instructional tool is designed to educate key audiences on ways to reduce energy loss, improve process control, reduce pollution emissions, protect workers, and provide sound control. It’s great for employee training, ASHRAE chapter meetings, distribution meetings, or engineer lunchbox sessions.

Insulation Energy Appraisal Program (IEAP)

This two-day certification program teaches students the process of performing insulation energy appraisals. Students learn to outline a facility in its current state of energy use and efficiency, and can therefore also demonstrate scenarios that may improve energy efficiency and the environment, as well as save money. Students receive up to 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Insulation Training Program (NITP)

This two-day certification program covers all aspects of commercial and industrial insulation as a powerful technology for enhancing energy and cost efficiency, and process performance. Students learn basic insulation science, system design and materials, insulation thickness determination, general insulation system installation considerations, the specification process, and insulation system maintenance.

Insulation Awareness Presentation for Steam End Users

This tailored 45- to 60-minute presentation discusses the importance and benefits of insulation, and covers such topics as why to insulate and the importance of component selection in engineered insulation systems. A large portion of the presentation also examines various maintenance issues and demonstrates the 3E Plus® computer software program.
