Joe Recca, Hawaiian History
Join us for a half-hour talk by Hawaiian Island Historian Joe Recca, followed by a networking breakfast so you can get to know your fellow NIA guests. NIA has planned this event early in the Convention to provide ample time for you to catch up with long-time friends and welcome the newest guests.
Joe Recca, known as “Pekelo” to his family and close friends, is a member of the musical Bright family. Growing up in an ohana (family) that is continuously singing and dancing, Joe knows how to entertain an audience. Joe is a direct descendant of King Kamehameha the Great and has a rich knowledge of his heritage and cultural legacies.
Through his knowledge of the Hawaiian language, Joe intertwines his desire to share Hawaii’s history with his love of entertaining. Come get to know the Hawaiian people’s spirit of aloha through this entertaining exploration of Hawaii.
When completing the Convention Registration Form, please make sure to check that you/your spouse will participate in the spouse program. We will reconfirm this information at the Convention Registration Desk when you arrive in Hawaii.
